Movie Review: The Little Mermaid Live Action

Growing up, "The Little Mermaid," animated film has always been my third favorite Disney movie. (Beauty and the Beast, The Fox and the Hound being my top two.) Ariel has always been my second favorite princess besides, (Belle being my first,) and since I used to rewatch the movie over and over again, I thought I would watch the live action as well.

Spoiler Free synopsis...

The movie follows the same plot of the animated film, Ariel a mermaid, (Halle Bailey.) wanting an adventure beyond the sea makes a trade to be on land for three days. The plans go different ways and Ariel must save her father King Triton, who has to make a sacrifice to undo the deal.

Spoilers....

With the new live action movies, like many others people I too was wondering how they would be able to make this one. I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good but, I Was Wrong!!!!

This movie took my breathe away! The characters were chosen perfectly and the movie was just spot on. The movie starts with Eric on the ship (Jonah Hauer- King) and let me tell ya he be looking fine! Ariel, (Halle Bailey) came up on screen and my breathe flew away I knew this was going to be a emotional one! She started singing the songs like, "Part of Your World." and I was swept away into the music. The plot was the same but that didn't stop the actors from giving us all an emotional new way of seeing the movie with open eyes. The movie had wonderful new bops like, "Wild Uncharted Waters," and our man was sounding great! Even Ursula (Mellisa Mcarthy from Gilmore girls!) Her vocals surprised me honestly I did not know she could sing let alone sound almost the same as the original animated one. "Under the Sea," by our man, (Daveed Diggs, from Hamilton!) did fantastic too! Flounder made me chuckle because his cute little, "Ariel!" and "No," and facial expressions were so cute! Halle gave us a gorgeousness and wonderful performance of a brand new song called, "For the First Time!" "Kiss the Girl," was amazing too. I will say the most breathe taken song and the one I sing over and over again, and its been a whole week is, "Part of Your World: Reprise 11," That song and Halle, I could feel everything she wanted us to and what that song meant to her and I am so thankful she was chosen to sing those beautiful words and give us a wonderful hug in our hearts. She truly did a spectacular job! Even the actress who played Vanessa, (Jessica Alexander) played her amazing, I have never seen her before, but her evil character was so spot on and she really did a great job.

I didn't have anything negative to say but, The only down point of the movie was the, "Scuttlebug," song I will say the voice actor did a great job. I just had a hard time following along and that was honestly the only down part I will say. I will of course be re listening to the song because, I want to be able to sing it too, and have fun!

My overall opinion of this movie....

This movie was amazing, and I'm so happy I saw it theaters. It was so worth it! Disney has let me down in some previous movies that this one healed my heart and made me wanna watch it over and over again! Halle if your reading this, I just want to say my younger and older heart are overcome with emotions, support, love, and most of all, you are, "My Little Mermaid1!"
